NORTH-WEST CROATIA REGIONAL ENERGY AGENCY

Description

North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency – REGEA  - was established by the City of Zagreb and three neighbouring counties – Zagreb, Karlovac and Krapina-Zagorje in 2008 within the framework of the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme. Our scope of work includes providing information, education and promotion of energy sector’s best and brightest examples, support in the development and implementation of national, regional and local energy plans and programmes, energy audits and certifications, energy performance contracting and public-private partnerships.

Role in the project

The NEW FINANCE project is coordinated by North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency (REGEA) who have extensive experience in facilitating investments, development of sustainable energy projects and EU project coordination and management. REGEA plays a key role in the NEW FINANCE partnership and is responsible for the overall implementation and quality control of the project. As a project coordinator, REGEA ensures good communication between partners and towards the Joint Secretariat, smooth  implementation of project activities and timely delivery of key project outputs. REGEA is also responsible for implementation of project activities in Croatia which include - development of lighthouse energy renovation projects in public buildings, promotion of private and innovative funding mechanisms and organization of networking events for all relevant Croatian stakeholders.

CATALAN ENERGY INSTITUTE

Description

Catalan Energy Institute (ICAEN) is a governmental entity that promotes implements and supports the necessary research and knowledge generation in order to design and implement policies targeted to achieve the optimal management of energy resources in Catalonia. ICAEN was created by the Parliament of Catalonia by Law 9/1991 of May 3rd (published in DOGC no. 1440) and falls under the Department of Labor and Enterprise of Generalitat of Catalonia. It is structured in two main areas or divisions to face the main targets of the Catalan Energy Policy: the energy management division and the energy planning division.

Role in the project

The role of ICAEN as partner in the NF project consists basically in developing two main tasks: first making a Benchmark analysis of 12 innovative  business models of successful implementation of energy efficiency projects across all 6 partner countries  and second  to  create a pipeline of bankable projects, providing technical assistance to the public tendering phase for the development of 5  new lighthouse  energy efficiency projects for public buildings in at least 3 different partner countries.

ABRUZZO REGIONAL ENERGY AGENCY

Description

ARAEN – Abruzzo Regional Energy Agency - is a permanent and operative body in Regione Abruzzo, set up by Regional Law no. 6 of 8th February 2005 art. 64. The activities are primarily related to improving the management of energy demand by promoting energy efficiency, promoting better utilization and better management of local and renewable resources, optimizing production costs, supporting research aimed at the best possible exploitation of energy supply, managing regional functions in the field of energy. Furthermore, its actions are also aimed at improving the environment and air pollution control. ARAEN plays its role in the implementation and support in the preparation of regional energy policies and  acts as interlocutor for the actors of the regional energy system and for all citizens.

Role in the project

The main role of AREAN as partner in the NF project is the leading of all communication activities. As such, it takes care of the development of the project communication strategy and action plan as well as of the realization of a communication tool kit for public authorities. It will then contribute to the whole project development and outputs, that is the NEW FINANCE & ALLIANCE e-platform; mapping and showcasing existing innovative business models/strategies for EE projects; training activities for regional stakeholders in better energy management.

MALTA INTELLIGENT ENERGY MANAGEMENT AGENCY

Description

MIEMA was set up 2007 with the mission to support and encourage a more intelligent use of conventional energy resources and renewable sources by promoting awareness initiatives and research projects that contribute to define incisive and targeted action plans and policies of intervention in Malta. Since it was established, the Agency has been involved in a number of EU funded projects developing research and activities on: green economy, sustainable practices in tourism and local governance, innovation in renewable energy sources (bio fuels, photovoltaic and wind power), heritage and landscape valorisation, smart-grids applications, sustainable mobility, IT and e-learning tools. In collaboration with educational institutions and Universities, MIEMA organises educational and training activities, conferences and seminars, offers internships to students on research mobility programmes and develops capacity building for policymakers. 

Role in the project

MIEMA’s main role in the project is leading the project partners in the development and revision of a BETTER ENERGY MANAGEMENT set of training materials based on a clear business case for energy efficiency investments and inclusion of RES. The agency is responsible for the elaboration of a business case based on data collected through surveys carried out in all participating countries as well as for the delivery of BETTER ENERGY MANAGEMENT training to the project partners. On a local level MIEMA shall deliver training for local/regional governments and public building owners and share experiences, data and results among stakeholders in order to plan activities to highlight the need for energy planning.

ENERGY AGENCY OF SAVINJSKA, ŠALEŠKA AND KOROŠKA REGION

Description

Energy Agency of Savinjaska, Šaleška and Koroška Region - KSSENA has been established in 2006 within the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme by four founders: Municipality Celje, Velenje, Slovenj Gradec and Public Utility Company Velenje. We are specialized in the field of RES and RUE, with our main activities focused on project work and on energy management for local communities. Our goal is to support municipalities with energy bookkeeping and preparation of different energy related documentation, such as energy audits for public buildings, energy strategic documents like SEAPs or Local energy concepts and investment documentation for successful implementation of energy measures.

Role in the project

Energy Agency KSSENA is responsible for setting up the NEW FINANCE e-platform and alliance mechanism. This two deliverables are crucial for further dissemination of project results and illustrative presentation of selected showcases of private investments in energy renovation of public buildings. Moreover, KSSENA will provide large areas of expertise in training program and facilitate trainings in Slovenia, all this will results in at least one new project of energy renovation of public buildings with innovative financing, that will be accomplished under New finance project.

DEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF UNA - SANA CANTON

Description

Development Agency of Una-Sana Canton (DAUSC) was established in order to contribute to economic development of USC and northwest BiH, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development by creating conditions that will enable strengthening of competitiveness and achieving development potential in order to provide support to less developed areas and increase the optimal use of the development potential. Accordingly, DA USC implements programs, projects, and activities in the areas of entrepreneurship development, human resources, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism and energy.

Role in the project

Development Agency of Una-Sana Canton (DAUSC) as an IPA partner from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) participates in implementation of project activities with support of our associated partner -Ministry for Construction, Spatial Planning and Enviornment Protection of Una-Sana Canton, becuase BIH is a country where energy efficiency market is not very mature, so the partnership needed a strong institutional supporter. Besides participation in all project activities, DAUSC's role is to gain more knowledge and experience on energy efficiency and to contribute in raising awareness on importance of energy efficiency in BiH.

ASSOCIATED PARTNER - MINISTRY OF CONSTRUCTION, SPATIAL PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION OF UNA-SANA CANTON

Description

Ministry of Construction, Spatial Planning and Environment Protection of Una-Sana Canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina is responsible for and has vast experience in implementing energy efficiency projects in Una-Sana Canton. 

Role in the project

The Ministry will be contributing to implementation of project activities through providing support and assistance to staff of the Development Agency of the Una-Sana Canton, project partner. The goal is to gain new knowledge and experience through exchange of good practices with other project partners and implementation of project activities.
