BETTER ENERGY MANAGEMENT TRAININGS implemented by KSSENA

The overall objective of training sessions was to increase participants’ knowledge of innovative financial mechanisms for energy efficiency projects in public buildings as well as present guidelines for preparation of application for Call for energy renovation of public buildings co-financed by Ministry of Infrastructure in Slovenia. Trainings were primarily aiming at Local public authorities – Municipalities, SMEs and Sector agencies.

During the past few months, Energy Agency of Savinjska, Šaleška and Koroška Region (KSSENA) organized and implemented 4 BETTER ENERGY MANAGEMENT trainings in the scope of NEW FINANCE project. Training sessions were organized in 4 different municipalities, namely in:

-          Maribor (November 20th, 2017),

-          Slovenj Gradec (December 4th, 2017),

-          Celje (December 12th, 2017) and

-          Velenje (February 5th, 2018).

The overall objective of training sessions was to increase participants’ knowledge of innovative financial mechanisms for energy efficiency projects in public buildings as well as present guidelines for preparation of application for Call for energy renovation of public buildings co-financed by Ministry of Infrastructure in Slovenia. Trainings were primarily aiming at Local public authorities – Municipalities, SMEs and Sectoral agencies.

Participants received insights in new financial mechanisms and possibilities to finance energy renovation of public buildings such as Energy Performance Contracting (EPC), Crowdfunding, Green bonds and Revolving funds. Among presented financial opportunities, energy performance contracting stays the most recognizable way to engage private investments, however, training participants showed interest for other instruments as well. Trainings also focused on thorough presentation of EPC model, furthermore of legislative framework and tender procedures in Slovenia.

Overall impression of training members was that good atmosphere and interactions with trainers provided them with collection of answers on all asked questions, furthermore, established relationships with trainers and other participant gave them opportunity to cooperate in future projects related to energy efficient renovation. 

Events were also a good opportunity to present NEW FINACE project and NF e-platform with the good practice examples on the new financial models for energy efficiency, moreover to invite all participants to promote and join NEW FINANCE network.
